My writing covers a wide range of genres, from climate science fiction to fantasy to history. Within science fiction, I write “climate fiction”, which explores life on a future Earth challenged by climate change. My maritime history books are travel guides to America’s wonderful and little known treasures of our heritage from the sea. I’m also interested in short story writing, and an amazing, scary future of artificial intelligence. Check out all my work!
I’m a Seattle-based writer working on a series of speculative fiction novels and short stories with climate change themes. My current project is a fantasy trilogy under the title The Future History of the Grail. I’ve also written a science fiction series titled Tales From A Warming Planet.
My short stories are published in several anthologies, including Satirica: An Anthology of Satirical Speculative Fiction, Bards and Sages Quarterly, Children, Churches and Daddies, the collection Still Life 2018, and the speculative fiction anthologies After the Orange, Spring Into SciFi 2019, and Rabbit Hole II.
I’ve published several non-fiction books, including The Fyddeye Guides, Shipbuilders, Sea Captains, and Fishermen: The Story of the Schooner Wawona, Blowing Out the Stink: Life on a Lumber and Cod Schooner, 1897-1947, and three books on streaming media. I’ve been published in numerous magazines and blogs, including Seattle magazine, Seattle Business, and the in-flight magazines of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Airlines.
I’ve also written a historical novel for young adults, The Stowaway’s Secret. These days, I’m focusing more on genre fiction, particularly science fiction and epic fantasy, with some crime thrown in. I’m also writing screenplays.

My background includes more than 10 years in the news business, including newspapers and public radio. I’ve also worked in the internet software industry and I’ve owned my own web development company.
I’m creator of the Bureau of Environmental Security.
