Lost museum ships are a tragedy for our country’s heritage, but preserving a ship for future generations is one of the hardest jobs in historic preservation. Ranging from battleships to small pleasure boats, these craft are expensive and difficult to maintain. They are often evicted from their homes and left to rot in the open when preservation fails.
